Addiction Recovery in Colorado and River Therapy

Shelby smiling at river in Colorado

I have had a pretty busy and successful week. Made a number of new contacts over the phone, especially with wilderness therapy programs for adolescents. A number of meeting in person, as well as a number of upcoming work on the calendar. And found again a band named Blackberry Smoke from Georgia that I haven’t listened to in a while and they are awesome. Check them out:¬†http://www.blackberrysmoke.com.

I am working on another 4th step in my 12 step program, and that is never fun, but it hasn’t been done in a while and needs to be done.

I had a meeting on Wednesday¬†with a sober living house in Boulder that I may be interested in doing some mentoring work with if it works for them and can fit into my schedule. It would be a nice opportunity to work with some younger people with different life issues. After the meeting I didn’t have much to do, so I decided to go up to the tail waters of Grosse Reservoir and do some fly fishing. I was only there for a couple of hours because the sun was going down and only caught two decent size rainbows, but still had a blast just being out in the quiet. Fly casting is very therapeutic to me. Shelby had an awesome time; she just wanted to play in the water the whole time, which wasn’t super conducive to catching fish. As you can tell I tried to take some pictures of the two of us, but that’s not very easy to do with a 8 month only puppy that is distracted, but I got one with her licking my face. Recovery from addiction and alcoholism does involve some work, but it can be fun and rewarding if you have your priorities in place.

Please reach out to me if you need help with anything involving recovery from addiction, alcoholism, or mental health and I will try and help or connect you with someone that can if I cannot.

Happy Easter to everyone if that is something your interested in!

Rich
